The College accepts checks from U.S. and international banks as well as American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa. Tax receipts for gifts of cash, check, or credit card are issued within 48 hours of receipt.

Stock and Securities

Gifts of stock afford donors an opportunity to avoid capital gains taxes by transferring ownership of personally held stock to Utica College. Since Utica College is an educational institution, all stock gifts are liquidated upon receipt. Gifts of stock receive a tax-receipt that is generated usually within 24 hours of the stock sale. The value of the stock gift is based on the average of the high and low on the date of sale.

Ciara is the coordinator of the Alumni Leaders of Tomorrow (A LOT) program and the senior class gift effort. She is also responsible for young alumni engagement.

Senior Advisor to the President and Board of Trustees for Strategy and Philanthropy

George is responsible for advising the President of Utica College and its Board of Trustees on a variety of matters related to strategic giving and philanthropy.

Interim Vice President for Advancement

Amy manages the College’s institutional and faculty grant seeking activity and is the government relations officer for the College. Amy oversees Annual Support Programs, Advancement Services, and College Events and Conference Programs.

Ashlea develops and implements strategic and comprehensive programs to increase constituent engagement and philanthropic support of Utica College. She oversees and manages the regional alumni network, donor relations and stewardship, athletic sponsorship, career mentor, and annual leadership support programs.

Associate Vice President of Advancement

Now in his 23rd year at Utica College, Tim Nelson oversees the major, principal and planned gift program for the Office of Advancement.  In addition, Tim serves as the Regional Advancement Officer for the state of Florida and oversees the senior development officer.

Nick supports the efforts of the major, principal, and planned giving team by helping alumni and friends make transformational gifts to support UC students. In addition, Nick serves as the Regional Advancement Officer for the metro New York area.

Meredith manages office-wide projects, supports the Board’s Committee on Advancement, Marketing, and Enrollment, supports the Athletic Sponsorship program, and provides administrative assistance to the Vice President of Advancement.

Kim records all gifts and pledges to make sure donations are used as donors intend and provides acknowledgement letters to all donors who make a charitable contribution. Kim also maintains the alumni database.

Director of Advancement Research

Melissa manages all functions of research including, constituent wealth screens, moves management, contact reports, and is responsible for external reporting. In addition, Melissa staffs the Trustee Subcommittee.

Tracy plans and executes all Advancement events and collaborates with key stakeholders to develop event plans and communication strategies to increase constituent attendance.
